I am very pleased to announce that my project Heart of a Glacier was chosen as one of 20 awardees to be supported by LOM Audio in 2023, from 170 proposals from more than 50 countries around the world.
LOM+you is an initiative supporting individuals or organizations in projects addressing climate change, environmental protection and social justice.
Heart of a Glacier is a surround sound audio-visual experience presenting recordings made inside the Morteratsch Glacier (Switzerland). The project engages with ecological grief during contemporary environmental change.
LOM will provide me with a specialist microphone, the Geofón, to be used during a glacier recording trip in June 2023. The Geofón is a sensitive omnidirectional geophone adjusted for field recording purposes. Originally designed for seismic measurements, it can be used with regular field recording equipment to capture very faint vibrations in various materials and even soil.
