Leonard Maassen is a music producer, artist and composer based in London, UK.
Completing a Master of Composition in Electronic and Produced Music at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 2023, he previously studied Cultural and Sound Geography at the University of Oxford. His audio-visual installation project, ‘we change’ won The Rose Lawrence Horners’ Award 2023.
Having established himself with the spoken word-jazz band Neo Arc and work selected for film festivals such as Cannes Court Métrage, Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Firenze FilmCorti, Leonard’s music increasingly looks towards uniting futuristic electronic textures with live acoustic improvisation, exploring more-than-human ecology as a conceptual point of departure.

lillies ep [2021]
‘Lillies’ is an emotional statement of intent. Deeply contemplative yet dynamic, the music takes you on a journey through sound worlds created with synthesizers, field recordings, percussion instruments and intense electronic processing. Expect sparkling synths, grooving drum breaks and deep layers of reverb and delay. ‘Knote Strasse’ features an introspective solo from trumpeter Ned Ashcroft.
