Love Light Festival Pitch [MP3, 2min 2sec]
I pitched a track to accompany abstract visual media at the Love Light Festival in Norwich.
I wanted to evoke the ethereal quality of light and the fascination that it invokes, while generating a feeling of propulsion. The first section of the track is sonically spacious with ambient chordal elements and a self-recorded choir. The second section is based around a heavy electro-style drum groove that provides an opportunity for a radical change in the light texture.
For the project, I explored the use of field recordings for compositional purposes, as well as a Eurorack modular synthesizer, with which I generated the bass and drum elements.
Although my track was not selected at the festival, it was a useful experience in turning around a track in a short space of time (less than a day), from the conceptual stage through production, mixing, mastering and presentation.
